15 Jun Handicap Parking
“It is a waste of time to be angry about my disability. One has to get on with life and I haven’t done badly. People won’t have time for you if you are always angry or complaining.” – Stephen Hawking
Everyone has seen a handicap parking space. But do you know what the white diagonal lines are for? They are for wheelchair vans to have the extra space needed to get a wheelchair and the occupant out. When someone parks in those spots, it hinders a person needing that space. It is inconsiderate, rude, and uncalled for.
As most everyone knows, my daughter Camryn has Cerebral Palsy. Due to her CP she is in a power wheelchair. Well today I was taking her to therapy and I pulled into a handicap van parking space and the vehicle beside me decided to park in the white diagonal lines. Some people think its no big deal but it is. I have to have enough room for the wheelchair ramp and her chair.
In order to get my daughter and her wheelchair out, I had to block traffic to get her out. Once I got her out and out of harms way then I had to pull my van back into the parking space. If the other car would have parked correctly then all of this could have been avoided.
To make long story short, just park correctly.
